R198 Battery Road Pedestrian and Cycle Scheme

Kilgallen and Partners provided Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering Services, while also fulfilling the roles of Employers Representative and PSDP for Longford County Council through the Design and Construction phases of the R198 Battery Road Pedestrian and Cycle Scheme, Longford.

The scheme comprises provision of facilities for cyclists, pedestrians and other non-motorised road users on the R198 Battery Road. The scheme includes the replacement of the existing mini-roundabout at the Lisbrack Avenue junction with traffic signals and also the installation of a ghost island junction at the Abbey Cartron Road/Demesne Lane junctions, including all necessary ancillary works such as drainage works, earthworks, pavement, signing and lining, accommodation works and works for statutory undertakers.

The works are part of the National Sustainable Mobility Policy 'Pathfinder' scheme programme and are fully funded by the National Transport Authority.
